Paul The Badger

  • Lead - Pay
  • Backing singers - Pay n Display

The song that has caught everyones attention.

This is one of the first tracks ever written by Pay n Display. Initially just a backing track that Chilled OJ had kicking around on his hard-drive. An inspired abstract idea, a lot of spare time and some embarassing recording moments, this is the sound of Pay n Display.

Lazy Smile

  • Produced by Oliver Jackman, Adam Smith
  • Lead - Display
  • Backing singers - Display, Chilled OJ, Laura Davies(!)

The second song to be dedicated to someone.

This song is dedicated to a girl who Display used to work with. When she left, he presented her with this song. Don`t really think she realised what she was in possesion of, but anyhow she appreciated it none the less.

Featuring Laura Davies into this song was not easy. You can only barely hear her average backing vocals in a sea of pitch perfect melodies from Display and Chilled OJ.

An 80`s electro song, for a special 80`s party.

This song was written pretty much in about 4 hours, on the day of an 80`s themed party that Pay was hosting. The track was previewed at the party and went down like a prostitute being handed a £20 note.

Pay n Display

  • Written by Oliver Jackman, James Carter, Adam Smith
  • Produced by Oliver Jackman

One of the songs that kicked it all off!

Pay recorded a sax riff on his phone from an old pink panther cartoon that was on telly when we were in italy. The first night we brainstomed the idea of forming the group, we also recorded some scratch vocals on this track that Chilled OJ built in 5 minutes. This was really just a test of the duo`s rapping ability. And i`m sure you`ll agree, when i say ability, i mean special ability!!

Bridging the Gap

Happy 25th Pay!

The instrumental version of this track was written by Chilled OJ at the age of about 16. The idea to write an album of songs about, and dedicated to, our friend Pay, was concieved the year before. However, nothing was done about it until about two months before his birthday.

This is one of the first songs written and recorded for that album. The Album was presented to Pay by Chilled OJ in New Zealand as they were both on tour over there.

Collins

Everybody loves a bit of Collins!

Another one of the songs that was featured on Pay`s 25th Birthday CD. Inspired by his ability to throw some awesome 80`s parties, and just the bizarre nature of Pay`s love for the 80`s icon Phil Collins.

Happy Birthday Laura

  • Written by Oliver Jackman, Adam Smith
  • Produced by Oliver Jackman, Adam Smith
  • Lead - Display
  • Backing singers - Display n Chilled OJ

The first song to be written and dedicated to somebody!

While living in St. Albans, Display and Chilled OJ`s house mate Laura celebrated her 24th Birthday. As a birthday gift this song was written and given to her at the house party celebrations. Bringing a massive smile and maybe a few tears, this song stopped everyone from dancing and made them gaze in bewilderment, at the awesome sound from Display n Chilled OJ. Unfortunately, Laura liked the song so much that she played it on repeat in her car (sad or what!).

A work in progress

Here`s a song that has been a work in progress for quite a while now. After taking another look we reworked it into this version. There is a bit of music in the middle where it seems a bit bare. Thats why its a work in progress!
